My Course Syllabus

English 10 is a year-long course which is divided into three separate areas of study. These areas will consist of: 1) a unit on speech, including individual presentations using a variety of styles, 2) a unit on literature with an emphasis on short stories, British and American novels, and 3) a unit on composition, focusing on the 5 paragraph theme using several approaches including comparison and contrast, classification, cause and effect, persuasion, and a research paper.

Classroom expectations:
Be prompt: in your seat when the tardy bell rings
Be responsible: all materials with you; all assignments complete
Be attentive: to the task at hand and to the person who is speaking
Be considerate: treat others as THEY would want to be treated.

Grading:
Vocabulary Study: 10%
AR: 10%
In class/Practice: 10%
Homework/Vocab: 20%
Quizzes: 25%
Tests/projects/Speeches: 25%
