How to Apply for a Substitute Teaching Position
Dear Applicant:
The information provided below is designed to assist you in completing the application process required by ESU #9. If you have questions about the application process, please contact Jenise Straight, Director of Special Services, or Jan Hughes, secretary.
- Complete the Substitute Teacher Application form.
- Return the completed application to:

- A personal interview is required as a part of the application process. At that interview the ESU #9 substitute policy booklet will be discussed and payroll information obtained. You will also be asked to complete a federal Employment Eligibility Form. Please bring your Social Security card and driver's license with you tot he interview as your forms for employment eligibility.
- If employed as a substitute teacher, it will be necessary for you to have your teaching certificate signed by the ESU #9 administrator. The certificate will be returned to you. Please request your college placement office to submit transcripts of all your undergraduate and graduate work tot he ESU #9 Personnel Secretary. You must hold a valid Nebraska Certificate prior to employment as a substitute teacher. Information and applications for certification can be obtained from:
