The Nebraska Student Assistance Program Initiative is a training resource funded to assist schools and the communities they serve with the development, implementation, and continuation of a core team model Student Assistance Program. This training has been provided to schools throughout Nebraska since 1989.
Student Assistance Programs (SAP) provide a comprehensive model for the delivery of K-12 prevention, intervention and support services. Student assistance services are designed to reduce student risk factors, promote protective factors and increase asset development. The ten SAP components are recommended as the minimum requirements needed to reduce barriers to learning and ensure student success in safe, disciplined and drug-free schools and communities.
This program is administered by Educational Service Unit #9 and supported by the Behavioral Health Prevention Program, Division of Behavioral Health, Nebraska Health & Human Service System.
The Nebraska SAP Initiative can provide training for a minimal fee to your school or district. For information on workshops scheduled in Nebraska or to schedule a training in your area, contact us by phone or email.
